The online reporting system is intended only for minor, non-felony crimes that occurred in the City of Topeka when suspect information is not available. Online report submissions are not monitored 24/7.

Online reporting aims to provide an optional submission for citizens. Online reporting is a service for citizens to file reports for documental purposes only, and therefore will not be investigated or included in crime statistics.

DO NOT report the following crimes online

  • Crimes involving injury, violence, or threats of violence
    • Robbery
    • Assault and battery
    • Domestic violence matters
    • Sexual assaults
  • Traffic collisions, and Hit & Run collisions
  • Crimes involving children
  • Stolen vehicles and stolen license plates; or any other item with a unique serial number
  • Crimes with evidence, such as recorded on video
  • Crimes committed by a known person
  • Crimes committed outside the city limits of Topeka
  • Drug complaints
  • Any emergency situation
Report theft of property online, when
  • Total value of the property is less than $1500
  • It is unknown who stole the property
  • There is no evidence to be collected
Report damage to property online, when
  • Value of the damage is less than $1000
  • Is is unknown who caused the damage
  • There is no evidence to be collected

Filing a false police report is a crime under KSA 21-3818, and criminal penalties apply.
